That is me

Everytime the same. What should someone write about himself? Ok, lets begin with… erm…

What is this all about?

This is a website about me and my work. I am interested in the world wide web, especially usabilty, webstandards and web technologies. That is what appears most in my weblog and I am also interested in Computer-Human-Interaction and technologies.

About me

I am a student of computer science at the University of Hamburg, Germany. My minor subject is visual communication at Hochschule für Bildende Künste (somewhat translated like: University of fine arts) also located in Hamburg, Germany. I love to photograph which you can see and read about on get83.de. I spent much of my spare time developing and programming (mostly useful *g*) programs which you propably can find in the section projects.

This site

This site is presented using the blogging system Wordpress. That theme you see is selfmade, because I didn’t find any themes that suites me. I must admit I didn’t really search either.

This stylesheet I call “blue-tea” is based on a one column layout. That tea glass and that sofa down there are all self made and inspired of some real world elements. The fonts I used in that jaz-lounge logo is called Nuncio. The fonts at the website are mostly Sylfaen and Lucida Sans Unicode.

Usability

For commenting I wrote an own plugin that allows the commentform to float besides the blog post. I believe this is a good way to make notes while reading the entry or other comments so you should not need to scroll up to look, what has he really said. I did not put it online yet, because I programmed it not clean enough, but if I have time and someone has interest in having it, I will look over it and put it online. If you don’t want the commentform to float besides the texts, you can put it back in line with unchecking the checkbox above the comment form.

What scares me

That so called template system of Wordpress. I rather prefer that templating system of Textpattern, but there were other things that scared me away from using it as the main engine for this site.

That wordpress 2.3 sends more data to the server than needed for checking if there are newer versions. That is really scary, so I installed the Filosofo’s Tinfoil Hat Plugin which you can read about and download on the authors site.

What I like

Straith forward (and as I see it not existing) implementation of a weblog.

Photographing things that come to my sight.

There is a sofa on your website, why?

It simply seems comfortable to me and this is all reason. Looking at it makes me feel comfortable and I hope you enjoy it, too. It should also remind you that you should relax from time to time while working.
